KOREAN FILM FESTIVAL, LAGOS

안녕하세요 친구들!

그동안 잘 지내세요?

Olympic Winter Games | Countdown Begins for PyeongChang 2018

The XXII Winter Olympics will be held in the city of Pyeongchang in the Gangwon Province of South Korea. To mark 365 days before the event, the city hosted guests and athletes from all around the world at a "one year to go ceremony" held at the Gangneung Hockey Centre. It was a spectacular night and it gave us a taste of what the real event will look like. I am already excited for it.

1st ASIAN FILM FESTIVAL, ABUJA

How was your weekend?

Mine was uneventful. I was meant to go to a fair today but last minute errands came up and I had to cancel.

The saving grace for me—after my resolution to have fun and go out more this summer— is that I have 4 more events in my July calendar that I can attend plus fun activities at work this month.

Which brings me to the title of this post!

10 Asian countries who make up the Asian committee in Abuja are hosting the first ever week-long film festival showcasing blockbusters from each country.

The event is going to be taken place at the China Cultural Centre in Wuse from 3rd - 8th July and all the films are free entry. Yay!

On the first day of the festival, there is an opening ceremony which is by invitation only, but afterwards the movie screening has free admission. So drag your friends and family and enjoy a round-trip across Asian Cinema from the East to the South and in-between.

P.S: you may also get the chance to try out their cuisines ;)

Here is a film Schedule for each day.

So tell me, which movie catches your fancy? Who are you planning on taking, a Date? Mum? Dad? Friend? or making it a siblings affair?

To find out about the synopsis of the film, check out the Korean Cultural Centre Website

Also don't forget to find me around the web on Youtube and so on by following the links below, I always welcome post and video suggestions.

KOREAN CULTURE | How Seollal [설날] is performed

As promised in my New year update post, I said I was going to write about how Seollal is celebrated.

새해 복 많이 받으세요 = Please receive a lot of luck or blessings in the New Year

Seollal~설날 is the most celebrated holiday in South Korea, the second being Chuseok
추석–which is the harvest festival. Seollal is not only a celebration of the coming in of a new year but an opportunity for families to come together from far and near, catch up with each other and enjoy sumptuous meals and activities. It is also a time to pay respects to ancestors and visit their grave sites.

2016 Korean Speech Contest, Nigeria

안녕하세요!!

Last Thursday, the Korean Cultural Centre in Nigeria hosted the 2016 Korean Speech contest.  Students of the Sejong Institute language class participated both at beginner and intermediate level. I won the competition last year and was able to go to Korea to mark the celebrations of Hangul Day. So I attended the competition this time around to support my classmates and cheer them on!

There were a lot of familiar faces and people I haven't seen in a while so it was a sort of reunion for me.

I have a Korean Radio Show #KpopFridays

Heeyyyyy!!

It's been a minute, I know. I have been so busy the past few weeks that the time just flew by.

How have ya'll been? what have you been up to?

There is so much going on with me...and one of the things that has kept me busy is a radio show I started with a few friends back in January. As a journalism student, it is required for me to have credit hours for radio journalism. So I convinced a few friends to start a program on Korean entertainment.

In our first season, we introduced different types of Korean entertainment every week. From dramas, to variety, films, music shows, kpop and so on..my friends didn't know zilch about Korean entertainment or knew just a little, so it was fun seeing them grow interest with every week to the point where they have favourite Kpop songs and binge watch Korean dramas!!

전주 한옥마을 '꽃가마' CAFE | JEONJU HANOK VILLAGE 'Kkochgama' CAFE

I mentioned this cafe when I wrote about my visit to the Jeonju Hanok village, it is a cute traditional cafe for desserts and drinks. On the day we went to Jeonju, it was raining. So after lunch, we sought out a welcome warmth from the pouring rain.

Hello everyone!

I cannot believe I am writing about my last day. I hope you have all enjoyed tagging along my recap of this amazing trip. Writing this has seriously awakened in me my love for blogging and as a Journalism student, this was a reminder as to one of the reasons why I chose to follow that career path.

Well here it goes.

TIPS TO LEARN KOREAN USING K-DRAMAS!!

Well if you are like me and you have watched a fair share of Korean Dramas, why not use it as a resource to advance your language studies!! I have recently incorporated it into my study methods because Uni doesn't allow me a lot of free time so I have to find a way to enjoy two of my hobbies at the same time! Check out my tips below and let me know what you think or if you have more tips to share!!
